Ramses the Builder

Ramses the Great is one of Egypt's greatest warriors. To his people he was the most powerful pharaoh that ever ruled ancient Egypt. He was a great ruler, a strong warrior and a peacemaker . Pharaoh Ramses was born in the 1300 B.C. The exact date is unknown. His was born asUsermaatre-Setepenre Ramses II. He was the second child of Seti the I and Queen Tuya. According to this website, http://touregypt.net/19dyn03.htm , he lived to be 96 years old. He had, it's recorded that he had 200 wives and concubines(some were his own daughters). He had 96 sons and 60 daughters.

Ramses was appointed Prince Regent by his father when he was only 14 years old and he assumed the Egyptian throne in his early twenties.

Others may see him as the greatest pharaoh that ever took the throne of Egypt but to some, Ramses was a tyrannical ruler of Egypt who drove the Jewish slaves in an Exodus that was led by the famous biblical figure Moses. Ramses is probably most famous for the structures that he built during his reign. Most of them still stands today. His most famous structures are the Temple of Abu Simbel, the Rameseum, his part of the Temple of Karnak, and the Temple of Luxor. He built a massive monument of himself in Thebes as well. These great structures were all made to commemorate himself and all his achievements. To depict himself as a God and to showcase his superiority. The process of building these structures required a lot of work which led to the increase of slavery during his reign, growth of his army and then ultimately, the decline of the Egyptian empire.

Ramses had a myriad of spouses but his first and favorite wife was.........to be continued.
